Acting Shakespeare

Understand what you’re saying. If you don’t know a word, look it up. If you don’t understand a mythology reference, look it up. Sometimes the meanings of words change over time, so if you still don’t understand, try finding it at http://www.acepilots.com/bard/ws_word.html. Look out for double meanings and play on words. Some lines say several different things. Decide which one you want to emphasize.

What's A Monologue?

 

Monologues: A “monologue” is a speech spoken by one person who exposes inner thoughts and provides insights into his or her character. For our purposes, you may select a monologue from a play, movie, or book, or recite your favorite children’s story or poem. The purpose of a monologue is to show a range of expression and honest emotion.
