Vanessa
Serrano, a sophomore at Camas High School, is on her way to the Poetry Out Loud
Washington State Competition in Olympia on March 20th.
Reciting “The Lifeguard” by James L. Dickey and “the mother” by Gwendolyn
Brooks, Vanessa impressed the regional judges with her solid understanding of
the content and ability to bring the poems to life.
